It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

I listened to only the last (today) of the week's journey the programme made across the Highlands, and having listened carefully to the whole of today's programme I have to commend it for atmosphere, Petroc's commentary and the choice of music and live guests. I know Breakfast has done this kind of thing before, but I've never paid much attention to it. So well done the Brekfast Team.

James Loughran's birthday today wasn't mentioned on Breakfast, though Esa-Pekka Salonen's was. However, Loughran's 91st birthday was noted with a YouTube upload from a 'Viennese Night' at the Proms. This was all but ruined by those exhibitionist idiots in the arena, clearly less interested in music than in getting themselves on the telly ...

While Pete and Dud were wiped. The problem with archive music is usually more
To do with rights issues.

I keep hoping, probably in vain, that some of Bryden Thomson’s recordings of Dvorak Symphonies and RVW Job will see the light of day again. BBC recordings which are made available commercially seem to be by the big names and the conductors who were the ‘bread and butter’ performers over the years get forgotten.
