The business about the bath made me cringe, as did the repeated references to St Cecilia. I have to say that, somewhat to my surprise, I find myself infinitely preferring Petroc's presentation to that of SMP. It's actually relatively straight. And if we HAVE to have the Your Call feature, he deals with it better than her, for my money. Her manner just sounds horribly patronising.

Music, the whole Music, and nothing but the Music
' For 40 years, listeners have been able to depend on R3 to play music. Now, we are announcing a break with tradition. For the first time in its entire existence, R3 is now able to offer more talk and less music. In a recent poll we found that the majority of people who listen to R3 have little interest in serious/orchestral/classical music. To encourage this interest, we are offering easily-digestible bite-sized pieces, interspersed with inspired insights into their creation, the stories behind the music, conceited banter between ambitious professional presenters, and phone-in septuagenarian remeniscences. Join us every weekday morning for Mohr Talk - Less Music.'Last edited by Guest; 25-11-11, 11:48.

Do I hear an echo from long ago?
I quote from a post of mine to uk.media.radio.bbc-r3 on 5th April 2001:
Subject: New Morning Programme
“Why don't they just rename it Talk Radio and be done with it?”
And we had no idea then of the horrors yet to come!

I rather like Chabrier's Joyeuse Marche and have a recording of it by Beecham. The first item in Martin Handley's Breakfast today was billed and announced as this work. I'm pretty sure it wasn't; it may have been something else from the same CD but it definitely wasn't the March.
Can anyone confirm this?

having now listened on listen-again, Mr Handley actually announces it as the Danse Slave from Chabrier's Le roi malgre lui
