She'd have laughed even more if she'd read out Torke's own description of his piece. To be equally fair, she's either choosing pieces to a brief or it's a joint effort with producers.
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

I'm convinced that this is how the playlist programmes' playlists come into being.

Happy Torky - this seems somehow appropriate to his angling exploits:

I loved his idea of what a tired women would want to listen to on her pink iPod while wallowing in her bath by candlelight. Did he write anything for a tired man wanting to listen on his pink iPod while wallowing in his bath by candlelight?

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought that.
I was a tad irritated by the assumption that it would be an option for a woman after a long day at work, since for many coming home is the start to another round of work...

Not only that, but that's the kind of music a woman will like. She doesn't even have good taste in music

Can someone clarify this for me please? Is it a JSB arrangement of Praetorius' setting of the chorale?
                  Johann Sebastian Bach
]Aus tiefer Noth schrey ich zu dir
Composer: Michael Praetorius. Choir: Huelgas Ensemble.
From today's EA listings of music played

I missed EA, but I think it's by both composers.
Could the 2010 album EA mentions be "PraeBachtorius"?
                    In which case, https://www.allmusic.com/album/praeb...s-mw0001959365 lists:
#27 BWV 38: Aus tieffer Noth schrey ich zu dir, Johann Sebastian Bach, 01:16
#28 Musae Sioniae: Aus tieffer Noth schrey ich zu dir, Michael Praetorius, 01:00
#29 BWV 38: Ob bei uns ist der Sünden viel, Johann Sebastian Bach, 02:36
Which, I think start at ~1:17:17, 1:18:32 & 1:19:33 in the programme (via Sounds).

They did something similar on the Early Music Show "The Huelgas Ensemble at the 2009 Edinburgh Festival".

A piece in the Guardian today suggests that radio audiences are moving their listening to later in the morning. If true, this might explain Essential Classics's popularity, though I didn't find the argument convincing. I look forward to m'learned friend's comments on RAJAR figures anon.

Has Petroc decamped to Truro more or less permanently? Has he said? I think he had Covid?

Returning to his roots? It's a convenient tick for Auntie in the government "levelling up" farce - look we've got a popular show coming from a deprived area, and - extra pixie points - it reduces the carbon footprint to get to the studio.

Certainly seems that way - can’t blame him really - don’t know if it was Covid but his voice sounded strange for a while!

Agreed. Interesting possible parallel with Martin Handley who has continued to broadcast his Sunday Breakfast from his home Somewhere in East Sussex.

I had thought that Petroc's ancestral home is fairly far south on the Lizard Peninsula - if so it's a fair old trek to Truro from there.
