To a degree, yes, but Trelawny for one manages to keep it to a minimum.

I am probably horribly wrong - it’s a knack I have - but I feel she has a far wider knowledge of classical music that she is often given credit for.

comfortable with the music played on the late night show - it is 'her' music and programme.

I suspect that for the Breakfast show she is just given a playlist and an outline script - I doubt that she could care less about much of the
music played. And surely the presenting style she adopts for Breakfast is forced upon her by the programme makers.
Yes but I think I prefer to start my day with the music she plays on a Saturday morning than to end my day with what she plays on a Thursday night - the bits of Unclassified music she interjects into Breakfast have driven away any desire to find out more though if I ever find spare time I might do some sampling on ‘Sounds’ - but I won’t prioritise it. …and I don’t ghink it is a ‘Listen with Mother’ voice - the presenters on that, as I recall 70 years ago spoke clearly and didn’t mumble their words.

My perception is that he has pulled back from that approach of late - which I'm glad about because I was finding it rather too much of a Sunday morning. Any name-dropping I have heard recently has been in connection with topical matters or the music being played - I don't have the sense of it being for the sake of it.
However as FF reminds us it's very much horses for courses and personal likes/dislikes.

Yes, (and largely to utct) it depends what you home in on. Martin's background is in music, especially choral/opera; Petroc's was in general broadcastingj/ournalism. There's no doubting (surely?) which is the more musically knowledgeable. Martin (so I understand ) spreads himself rather more in his conversational style but has more musical depth; Petroc sticks to the point but has fewer musical insights. What they have in common is that both are (seemingly) annoying to some people and admired by others. Just personal taste?
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

Couldn’t agree more… but I think this past weekend was ‘payback’ for a double-Hander weekend a week or two ago…

Petroc is using the Radio Cornwall studio in Truro this week - I think he’s busy with this:

Recognised as one of the best choirs in the southwest, Three Spires Singers is a 100-strong auditioned choir giving around four concerts a year, usually in Truro Cathedral or Hall for Cornwall.

Well if I heard correctly - giving 'Lizzie' the benefit of the doubt while I made an early morning drive to retrieve a mislaid phone charger - we had a couple of dedications this morning to dogs. Well I suppose it is some consolation that at least there are dogs listening to Saturday Breakfast. Did they have views on the correct tempo for a Scott Joplinn piece? I was unable to hang on for the answer to this.

Well even St Martin got told off last Sunday by a grumpy chap from Norfolk who wrote 'Play some classical music - that's what you're there for'. Well presumably there's no pooch to insist to him on listening on Saturday too.

I actually tried to listen to Breakfast this morning - utter drivel. Inappropriate music for R3, stupid dedications and needless chatter. I gave up and read instead.
                              Best regards,
                              Jonathan

I never used to listen but my dog always did, and now I'm a reglular listener too (thank you, Toby).
