The same with the birdsong recognition feature. Martin solemnly said that as the DoE had died it would be postponed until next week. Incomprehensible! I was so irritated that I switched off. I'm a Sunday Breakfast regular listener, and and MH fan, but it was my only available protest in the moment.

You can fill in the online complaints form, which is on the BBC website.

These pages have information about how to complain to the BBC, with links to the BBC’s Complaints Framework, the BBC’s regulator Ofcom and regular reports about complaints. Watch our short film to learn more about how the BBC responds to your feedback.

They've been inundated, according to some newspaper reports.

I think most of the ‘complaints’ from the forum will be after the return to ‘normal’. The wall to wall music with minimal babble has been good.

It's sort of like sending a teenager up to their room, saying, 'Alright, you can listen to your music, but only nice music, and quietly'.

A form will just be part of a bureaucratic process, and end up as a statistic.

I hope R3 producers and presenters will look at these forum threads, and take note. (Though, of course, they may be powerless.)

I think I may have made a mistake( I was adrift with what the time was which didn't help, and only half heard what MH said) as to which of the slots was omitted, as later there was sound of birdsong merging into a Mahler song. However the basic grumble still exists as to why any omissions were thought necessary.
I'm not filling in a complaint form (I thought I read yesterday that it has been taken down now?) but have written a letter(snailmail) to say how much I enjoyed Saturday's broadcasts, without the dumbtime early morning slots, and the intrusive and wholly unnecessary ADVERTS. I acknowledge that not everyone will have been happy at the loss of BaL and the evening opera relay, but I think most are able to accept that they will turn up eventually at some future date.

I think that by far the majority of complaints are to do with the blanket TV coverage, and that (as you say) we R3 folk are in general if anything grateful for the changes, given that Stravinsky Day will presumably be rescheduled fairly soon.

Re the Stravinsky Day, true, but only by the removal/rescheduling of whatever was originally carefully scheduled for that day. Listening figures for Radio 3 yesterday will be of interest. Will they have gone up or down. I suspect the latter, and not to a marginal degree.

What would be just as interesting to my mind would be the make-up of the audience. There will be losses from those who wanted to hear the original schedule, but possibly gains(temporary) from those wanting refuge from elsewhere or who just left the radio on when it might normally be switched off.
As far as re-scheduling is concerned there are several hours on a Saturday which would arguably not be missed by those who would be wanting to engage with the Stravinsky Day?

I imagine the R3 gamble would be that a large portion of the new audience would be be switching over to news channels anyway, notwithstanding the complaints of excessive coverage.
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

I don't think there's a radio equivalent of the overnight ratings for TV programmes, so we may have to wait a while. For some reason, Radio 4 Extra has been suspended and is now carrying the same programmes as Radio 4. I've no idea how typical, if at all, I am, but it's a long time since I spent so much of a Saturday listening to Radio 3.
Re #9945 - I've posted elsewhere (Prince Philip thread #181) on the major desertion of viewers from BBC1 and 2 and ITV 1 on Friday evening.

You are right there are no overnight figures but I don’t think there will any figures at all.Unless things have changed Rajar figures are not currently being gathered because of Covid . Although channel wide figures are available for free on the Rajar website figures for individual programmes are only available if you , expensively , subscribe. Even then the figures for many smaller audience shows are pretty unreliable - almost approaching noise level.

And certainly none published. I think BBC Radio networks do get updated more regularly on their figures, but if that's only via RAJAR rather than internal research, same applies: no published figures, either way.

Yes looked at the website - fieldwork still suspended from Q1 2020...so anything could have happened in the last year though I suspect listening will have gone up across the board ...

I've really enjoyed Radio 3 this weekend, especially not being awoken by the terrible stuff on the Saturday Breakfast programme.
