She managed to garble it again at 8 am (though not quite as badly as at 7, when it came out as ‘Danielle Ja-Jawovsky’ which wasn’t even close). The silence on both occasions before Danielle started reading was palpable.
I thought that too - but then wondered if the silence was something to do with EA being in a Salford studio, DJ in London.
Maybe both....
This morning's display of infantile antics was another milestone in dumbing down. GM was encouraging the hyping-up of an alleged listener request for The Muppets, dragging it up between items. More of the "I want to be liked" characteristic of most R3 presenters (other than "I want to be hated SK)".
I switched off in frustration of the idiocy of the whole debacle, though on viewing the listings, there was no reference to anything Muppetty.

She's promised/threatened to feature them during her next two-week stint. I'd be happy to endure a bit of Muppetry if she would promise not to play any Piazzolla for, say, 3 years.
S Klein was on R4 Today yesterday with Lenny Henry, and said she always tried to play a piece composed by a Black/Ethnic Minority composer in her programmes. I'm not sure if this question is answered on these 898 pages but this implies she gets to choose the content......... (I don't listen to the weekday morning R3 programmes).

The Carmen aria was the Muppety bit, playing a 'proper' version rather than the one mentioned made by the Muppets - which I remember seeing and being amused by at some point in the (probably distant)past.

Aimed at the older demographic then, and well missing its target.

I would expect her to have an input, but be too busy to compile a daily playlist There has to be a woman and a contemporary composer as well. Errollyn Wallen is an excellent choice. Then we can get back to business - Piazzolla, Gershwin, the Muppets
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

You probably share my amazement that some here put themselves through the pain of listening to the tripe... admirably, so that we don’t have to?
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

It's all very sad, Nick. As far as I'm concerned, Radio 3 ceased to exist some while ago. Listening on the radio at home to its vaunted 'live music' concerts and recitals is not so greatly different from listening at home to my CDs. I have no patience to pick over the dross for such gems as may still be heard, and haven't listened to any radio now for years. It's gone the same way as television for me. For those for whom it provides joy and entertainment, it serves a purpose.

I find I go in phases. I had a run of listening to the whole of Breakfast with PT, then lapsed. Sunday with MH is almost a must. It's the same with television. Channel 4 News is pretty much a regular watch, since it knocks spots of the BBC News.
