Oh dear, it was a right old rag-bag this morning! When Wedding Day at Troldhaugen came on, my radio went off and stayed off.

It appears that, coincidentally, 66.6667% could, at a push, be described as "classical". This may represent the new norm - that about two thirds of any of EA's programmes will be, (mostly uninspiring) classical. Note that today's mix is described as "Classical music for breakfast time, plus found sounds and the odd unclassified track."

But, excuse my dreary opinion, as long as some can say personally they like it and think it's exactly right for morning listening. More objectively, classical listeners might say they're being short-changed.

I thought I heard mention of Greek mosaic maker - hence Xenakis and Hadjidakis to follow?

So there was absolutely nothing of interest or merit in the preceding 19 pieces/hour and 40 mins or so?

Brilliant skit on Petroc and other Radio 3 presenters on Dead Ringers, earlier on. Had me interrupting my lunch preparations, jumping about and going "Yes! yes! yes! yes! YESSS!!!"

I turned on during the Holst. Perhaps I was in a grumpy mood but, apart from the Bach, no. Why not a lesser-known Strauss waltz, a movement from Mendelssohn's wonderful first string quintet, one of Grieg's Slåttar or a lesser-known Lyric Piece ....?

I can't speak about Saturday Breakfast as I never listen to it.

Monday to Friday, Petroc runs an amiable show. It's streets ahead of the far-off days when it was loaded with tweets. Something has softened and for me there is a sense of a Breakfast community of listeners.

Far out ahead, for me, is Sunday Breakfast with Martin Handley. He has one of the best presenter-personas on Radio Three, and is above all a musician.

Don't listen at weekends, so don't have an opinion.

There may well have been but you have to be extremely brave to listen on a Saturday.

Oh I abandon ship before he comes on, and generally the radio stays off for the rest of the day. Saturday is a day when I find alternatives to listening or watching; the choice has been somewhat limited the past few weeks...
