It wasn't Breakfast it was EC I've just realised - that's the trouble with the morning schedule tending to be much of a muchness I suppose.

I think she just likes the attention.

At least they're not yet calling them 'songs'.

I think SK played a very imaginative and well thought out sequence yesterday with quite a few rarely heard pieces from Fasch, Strozzi, Bridge, Howarth, Josquin, Monk and Crotch ( who he ? The composer of the Westminster Chimes) as well as the excellent Reich. Credit where it is due this was R3 doing exactly what it is there for...

Perhaps she borrowed an Ian Skelly playlist.

That's good to know, but perhaps such praise should be posted on the Essential Classics thread?
I wonder if 'Breakfast' will pick up any listeners fleeing the coverage of the G*n*r*l *l*ct*on on Radio 4... Anybody tuning in right now would hear something seasonal by Vivaldi!

I woke to a penitential psalm.

...and then you turned the radio on!

You wouldn't perchance be referring to Today just managing to squeeze John McDonnell into the list five minutes before the 9 o'clock news so that the eternally awful Martha Kearney could interrupt him every time he opened his mouth and frantically talk over him so we couldn't hear what he had to say?

That’s because the criticism of the Steve Reich piece emerged on this Breakfast thread even though it was played on Essential Classics. That then led to some further criticism of EC so I thought this was the appropriate place to post my defence of what I thought was an imaginative selection of pieces.

                              From #8576:

No, sadly not, S_A! It was merely a weak attempt at a pun on the words obscured by asterisks in LMcD's post:

just look at the lousy playlist this am on breakfast. what is happening? about 4 years ago michael white complained about too many excerpts and invitations to use social media. i 'd accept that now
                                gladly.
