A couple of years our social group invited a chap from the Cats' Protection League to give us a talk. His opening sentence: 'Let's face it - a cat is a killing machine' - wasn't quite what any of us was expecting.

I've given many talks to local WIs, where as often as not the speaker is asked to judge a little competition amongst the members (my first, back in the 1980s, was "Best autumn arrangement in an eggcup"). After one, a sympathetic member remarked to me "You're lucky you didn't have to judge our cats".

Perhaps I imagined it but it seemed as though the Martin's presentation today had lost a little of his customary joie de vivre.

Just play the music! The spoken contribution needs to be only minimal.
I just wonder how many young people are drawn to this adulterate selection.Last edited by Stanfordian; 12-10-19, 10:05.

Gosh, I must be careful what I wish for.
If wonder who this rubbish is aimed at. If it's intended to entice younger listeners - well the potential younger listeners I know, wouldn't be seen dead with this.Last edited by Stanfordian; 12-10-19, 19:49.
