In the first one, Alan "I had them in here the other day" Davey performs the ceremonial opening with the South Bank Centre's Jude Kelly.

I really do think anton that you should shake a leg, leave Lady Gould to cook her own kippers, and journey south during the next fortnight to experience the Squirefest live among the gathered faithful in front of the studio, at the natty bespoke tables:

"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
    Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

I could swear Sarah Walker thanked 'Hedgehog' Trelawney at the end of Friday's show. An image formed in my mind of the other presenters thinking of him thus, perhaps imagining him as the thespian Mr. Pricklepants from Toy Story 3?

Sadly if I maintain the current, exemplary, standard of behaviour I am not allowed "out" until April 2018 .... but these wonderful pictures make it, oh so, real to me .... many thanks .....

This morning we had a lovely segue of Cecil Day Lewis reading 'An Italian Visit' from 1949 fading into Liszt's La Gondoliera. Unexpected and quite magical. They should do more of this Words & Music approach.

I know it wasn't Breakfast, but on a long car journey (new car - horror, no CD player how I miss it) yesterday I thought the last hour of Essential Classics was pretty decent -
Academic Fest Overture / Bruno Walter; Carillon de Westminster, organist Simon Preston; Bach Conc for two violins in D min, Podger/ Manze; BartókTransylvanian Dances, cond Zoltán Kocsis; Eriks Esenvalds Infelix ego (after Byrd) choir: ORA. HARMONIA MUNDI (new CD incl contemporary) ; Dvorak Czech Suite cond Josef Vlach SUPRAPHON.

(OK I know the Brahms is a pet hate - but then Walter was a slant. Overall an improvement I think from the last time I checked. (And I've never objected to the interview slot -bit of a sub Desert Island discs, alright with me in the morning when I'm engaged in the tasks of daily life with the radio on).

Awoke to the Squire talking about Samuel Scheidt and his sackbuts... Like a true pro, he remained stony-faced (voiced?) throughout.

I happened to be passing the RFH this morning,so popped in to have a butch. Bit of a shambles as a viewing experience, I would think.Anyhow somebody who looked rather Donald Mcleodish wandered out of the fishbowl just as I was passing. Is he doing COTW live this week?
                          Doc Walker looked jolly busy.

"As part of Radio 3 live at Southbank Centre, London, Donald Macleod presents special editions of the long-running series that began life just three years before the launch of the 'Third Programme' in 1946 …"
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

Thanks, I thought it was him. Has he changed how he spells his name ?

IIRC, Petroc mentioned that as well this morning...
