Scary mercs the one morning I am late and miss the first half hour - I am sure Rumpole will have heard ....
Did catch the suggestions for a collective noun for a bunch of R3 presenters that I presume flowed from this - a harmony indeed .....

It isn't - I think it was some backroom guy, whose name I didn't recognise - been there nigh on 35 years though.

I think it was mentioned at around 0740 - I was driving at the time. Had I not been I would have been tempted to suggest a "twitter" as a collective noun for R3 presenters...

But would such noun be appropriate to Breakfast presenters only?

A harmony of presenters? A counterpoint, surely?

It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

It would seem that advertising savoury snacks is now considered appropriate on Breakfast. In the course of doing the temperature 'check' at 8-30 we were told, courtesy of a 'listener', that some place in Northern Ireland is the home of Tayto crisps.
Well, not far from me there is a well-known manufacturer of crisps; I happen to think that has nothing to do with Radio3 but perhaps I'm missing something - try to get a witter announced on the programme and ask for a consideration from the company in question for the plug....

I was very worried about Petroc Trelawney this morning. He sounded seriously out of breath for most of the time, breathing several times in every sentence, in places where even the most fastidious wouldn't dream of inserting punctuation marks. Clearly Petroc, Rob and others don't speak like this when off-air, so someone is pressurising the presenters to speak in this barmy and incomprehensible way.

I suggest it's a health and safety risk for presenters AND listeners.

. . . and then we had all that nonsense about the percentage of people claiming to have read War and Peace who were lying. It's the kind if drivel we expect from the tabloids.
