Thanks, Old Grumpy. I stand corrected and have edited my post. Maybe a Freudian slip. But probably just goes with my manic Saturday.

FWIW I think VM is a good presenter. Vast improvement on last week's guy. She's got a really good radio voice. They should ditch "Your Call". I've never not cringed.
IMVVHO better than "last week's guy" but not in the Skellers class.......

Don't "do" breakfast at the weekend (or on R3 on any other day) but it was great hearing the Skellyton transforming In Tune into a more-than-tolerable programme one day last week!
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
        Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Surely we are once again blaming the presenters. True, some are better than others, but the format remains the real issue.

I think we are comparing, not blaming, presenters ......personally I don't think the Breakfast format will change dramatically and IMVVHO you need presenters who are comfortable with it.......

Skellers seems to be deployed like a guerrilla you never know where to expect him next. Give the man a regular gig!

                Straws and camel's back.

Meanwhile, yet again we have Albarado [sic] del gracioso on the playlist - and the giveaway that the presenter is not much into classical music since she doesn't know the Alborada del gracioso and therefore reads what's on the paper in front of her (in fairness, without stumbling over it).

As a plug, this is the kind of thing included in the FoR3 Presentation survey: sloppy online information (certainly by R3 production not the presenter), problems with playlists, and presenters who (I will grant that I think she has a pleasant 'broadcasting voice') do not inspire trust in what they say.
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

Despite all, occasionally I find a real gem on these (otherwise unsatisfactory) programmes. Yesterday in the car, on InTune, I caught Chopin's Etude Op10 No 8 played by Valentina Lisitsa (her of St. Pancras fame - see Youtube). Actually they played a CD, still awaiting her to arrive I think, but I thought it was pretty marvellous. Came home and played it 3 times more on iPlayer!

And I, in the car, heard Le Vent du Nord - at the Celtic Connections Festival in Glasgow, but also appearing at SageGateshead the day after - bought the last two seats together online this afternoon. Turned up this evening - empty Sage - closing in in hour! The gig is tomorrow! Still, at least it wasn't yesterday.
