Maybe it's an impediment in which case I'm very sorry, but to me it sounds like affectation...

What I have increasingly noticed- especially with Breakfast and EC- is not only is much of that played no more than "light" music, but many of the performances are truly awful. Yet invariably they are described as "wonderful", "marvellous", "fantastic.....I can only conclude that, in the absence of any musical appreciation, the presenters/production staff are choosing performances merely on the basis of "celebrity", or chart popularity.

On with the show..."Gone Chopin, Bach in a minuet."

This wouldn't matter if they were just there to present the programme, and the content was left to more competent backroom staff. Unfortunately the problem with this show- and with R3 in general now- doesn't end with the limited range of pieces played. I am sure there have been comments on this forum about performances- but, must admit I have seen very little here.

Welcome to the court of Clemency Burton-Hill
Actress CB-H is clearly not used on the BBC for her music knowledge is she. If CB-H didn't have stunning looks and a famous father and other impressive connections I don't think we would be see her (or even hear her) on the BBC at all.
Here is an interesting link titled: 'Radio presenter, novelist, musician and actress... welcome to the court of Clemency Burton-Hill':

It's interesting how celebrities in one field can cross into another one simply because the public knows them. Alan Titchmarsh does great gardening programmes, yet he writes novels which people actually buy and has presented Proms for Radio 3. Meanwhile, people who could write far superior novels and would introduce Proms with real expertise, aren't even on the map for consideration.
It's a bit like the Mafia.

Nor, for that matter, am I aware of the BBC ever using her as an actress (she was in a Midsomer Murder some years ago, but that's an ITV production).
It is, I fear, sadly another case (like that of Sara Mohr-Pietsche) of an intelligent and gifted young woman being told to ditsy-it-up for the sake of the low intelligence that the Beeb seems to think is typical of the Breakfast audience.Numquam Satis!

On with the show...
