Those bits are in the automated system which is used for all BBC radio programmes. That's why, when it goes wrong, Radio 3 gets links to pop and rock musicians.
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

Have I got to listen to Breakfast to find out what an 'earworm' is? Just a piece that sticks in the memory?

I'm sure Rob can't be happy about the situation. When/if the changes come I hopehe gets a programme more worthy of his knowledge.

The automated system is certainly responsible for many of the errors on the Breakfast and In Tune playlists in particular. To my mind its just pure laziness, the website is a prime advertisement for your business, if you are going to leave considerable proportions of it to an automated system that continually throws up errors, it shows how little you care about the station's public image and reputation. I wish I could create a replica of the Radio 3 pages aeolium, I'd certainly have a go at recreating them if I could create a replica. I would probably have to create a new one from scratch though as R3 would probably have me for copyright if I used their designs.

Sigh. Anyone up for doing something constructive?

The general phone number for Radio 3 queries and comments is 03700 100 300.
The BBC Main Switchboard Telephone Number is 08455 19 14 71.

The Interactive Editor for BBC Radio 3, "currently leading a major revamp of the Proms and Radio 3 websites": GABRIEL GILSON
To answer Salymap's question..."EARWORM, a loan translation of the German Ohrwurm, is a portion of a song or other music that repeats compulsively within one's mind, put colloquially as "music being stuck in one's head." It's quite an interesting psychological phenomenon. Here's a great quote from a research study:

"Those who found the earworms most problematic were respondents who considered music particularly important. These participants also reported experiencing earworm episodes of longer duration and harder to control than participants for whom music was of less importance."

Agh! The bane of my life. For what it's worth, I've been listening to a lot of old novelty 78s from the Library of Congress lately, and now I've got a ridiculous Billy Murray playlist on permanent repeat everywhere I go...annoyingly catchy!! Here you go-- thank me later!

I fear it's too late to do anything constructive about this morning's breakfast show. It's been and gone. The deed is done.

re earworm. I do agree with you. I don't usually listen to Breakfast, preferring news channels in the morning. I did switch over from R4 at nine and what was on offer will only make me stay away in future. The earworm stuff was pointless and irritating + two random movements from complete works (Rach Symphony famous bit and Trout Quintet Finale)

hurrah, no earworms, tapeworms or other body parasites this morning, but a marvellous Haydn finale which has encouraged me to discover the Symphony no. 97

Interesting snippet from Wikipedia: "Earworms are a feature of the Shaun Keaveny Breakfast Show on BBC 6 Music, when listeners are asked to phone in with tunes that are stuck in their heads when they wake up."

I always suspected that there were many R3 presenters who were bigger fans of other radio stations than R3 . Can we presume that when they're not presenting Breakfast, they're listening to Shaun Keaveny?

I see that we have the all-too-ubiquitous "John Ogden" again in this morning's Breakfast blurb! (albeit corrected to "John Ogdon" in the actual playlist); I'd love a fiver for every time I've seen that one...

Today's topic of outstanding concerts attended in the past is a good one, but I think I shall scream if I hear SMP mention Erica Jeal's article in The Guardian again this morning - a plug is one thing, but this is sheer overkill!

Agreed but we have had Peter Maxwell Davies as reported in the Tellywag to maintain the balance!
