Please explain, my days of sorting cryptic clues seem to be past. I associate Gravesend, not far from me, with Princess Poha ??? and Coleridge Taylor. I THINK

Shouldn't be playing an odd movement of Scheherazade anyway.

"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
            Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Sara dear, please DO NOT talk over the BC of Beethoven that are played at the moment. Somehow, it annoys me as the ultimate insult to one of the great composers.
Quite. The ultimate confirmation that presentation is of more importance than content. It was an insult to the artist back in the day when the likes of Dave Lee Travis used to talk over the beginning or ending of some bland dross by the Eagles or whoever !To do the same thing to Beethoven is off the scale.

Okay, I'm probably being dreadfully dense here, but what does BC stand for? Biolin Concerto? Biano Concerto?

Odd thing, The Eagles. They seem to inspire a great deal of affection in some shrewd judges. Beats me !! Desperado is a fair enough tune, I suppose. Never really listened to a whole album.....you get the point anyway !! Lets not fall out over a little American country Rock !!

I'm amazed this is still going on. I've given up on Breakfast. It is on to wake me up that's it. I don't know what they will do when they are done with torch music. I suppose it will be music for the Olympics. I find the selections for torch music most suitable for on whole burning with said torch.

Of course it was the Coop!

And I seem to remember, way before the Olympic torch took over as the subject of daily fascination, there was 'What wine would you drink with what piece of music?"
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

                            French Frank,

One of my all time favorite quotes from this site is dealing with Your Call. 'The cat's favorite music'. But agree with your comment as well.

A letter in today's Guardian, with two specifically commenting on Martin Kettle's recent piece about the neglect of Mozart, and on other omissions from this year's Proms:

Martin Kettle blames the head of Radio 3, Roger Wright, for excluding Mozart. Presumably Mr Wright is also responsible for making Radio 3's Breakfast show like Classic FM without the ads.

Do I get the impression that Joe and Jane Public have been quietly ditched from "Your Call" and that there is now a concentration on purely musical figures to give their voice to a piece of music?
Do you think that the powers-that-be realised that it all got a little toe-curling and rather close to Simon Bates's "Our Tune"?
