Today (Sunday) we have a 1960 Met Tannhauser (Solti) on Danish Radio P2, 4.20pm) and a Parsifal from Dortmund on WDR3 at 6.05pm.
Tuesday 21st there`s a Wagner concert from Leipzig on MDR Figaro.
Wednesday 22nd there`s the Bayreuth Birthday concert on Bayern 4 Klassik (with a later tv relay on ARTE), plus the Leipzig concert from the previous day on MDR TV, and a Jonas Kaufmann concert on ORF2, and late in the evening on MRD TV a 1964 Joachim Herz film of Hollander. And Bavarian TV are showing the Syberberg film of Winifred Wagner`s life, in 2 parts, starting this evening.Comment

Did anybody hear that deeply tiresome Chabrier "Quadrille on Themes from Tristan" that James Jolly inflicted on us an hour or so ago? It seemed to go on nearly as long as the music drama itself......

I once saw Bayreuth played (four hands on one piano) at a Wagner Society Christmas party by (if memory serves correctly) the then musical director and chief repetiteur of the English National Opera. They appeared to be enjoying themselves immensely.Comment
