Do I take it this is video? Can you give a link to this station? Zurich Opera brought Der Fliegende Hollander to the Festival Hall last December. It was just superb!

Thanks for those links. Unless I'm misreading it, the Arte listing gives 22.40 as the start time for the Dutchman, but in fact it began some ten minutes ago (I write this at 9.19pm). Preview clips during the overture paint a rather strange picture of dinner-suited sailors and frilly-aproned (non-) spinning ladies, billed as "Servants of Daland". Interesting...

No, sadly Bert you are right. I tuned in at 9.33pm to start recording, going on the 9.40pm start-time as per ARTE`s website only to find I`d missed 20 mins. Even allowing for the 1hr time difference between UK and Euro time, this is bizarre. Whoever heard of a broadcaster starting 20 mins early!!

It did not start early. According to the german equivalent of the Radio Times,it was scheduled to begin at 22.10 and did.ARTE's website is very "iffy" sometimes.

Another upcoming TV broadcast - from Bayreuth 22 May - concert with Thielemann / Westbroek / Botha / Papé scenes from Tannhäuser,Rienzi and Walküre.(ARTE)
It says "live" - which normally means tape delay.
I will post the correct time nearer the date.

Well that`s all very well, but one would have thought that the tv channel`s own website would manage to get it right, wouldn`t you! A mistake I most assuredly will NOT be making again!!!!

There are slight time differences between the French and German versions of Arte. It used to be synchronised but in recent times this is no longer the case. Both are available at 19.2 - I guess this is where the confusion over start time arises.

I have emailed the channel in both French and German to ask if it will be repeated. The closing credits suggest a co-production between ARTE and SWF so maybe it might appear on SWF (although they carried an audio version a couple of weeks ago.) I fear this one may be destined to remain incomplete in my archive!
