    Thank you!

I'd heard rumours that they were going to do the Donizetti English Queens operas, but I couldn't quite believe it.

And they're bringing them to Liverpool!

    Details here:

(One small gripe. The Met are doing these, too. Couldn't we have some different rare Donizetti?)

Hi Jean I'm off to see their Lulu and Vixen next week in Cardiff, The Lulu is getting rave review's 5* In the Guardian & The Arts Desk, glad their going to Liverpool, we get them once a year in Bristol now since the cuts, though I guess I'm lucky I can go to their "Home Ground" the Millennium Centre, which is only an hour away

I'll have to book another couple of trips to Cardiff I think next season so I can take in Henze's Boulevard Solitude & Manon Lescaut as well, still there is a really good YHA In Cardiff so can keep the cost's down, £6 on the Bridge Now

I'd been scanning the current brochure in vain for the spring visit in Bristol to take my niece to (she asked!). It was only just sinking in that this cut was indeed the case - I hadn't otherwise seen it announced.
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

WNO Are also doing Moses & Aron at The Royal Opera House Next Season, it would be smashing if they we're invited to do a concert performance of their upcoming "Lohengrin" at this years Prom's as well, like they did with Meistersinger 3 years ago

Thanks for that, M3. I was expecting the winter (Nov) visit to be on, but it looks as if the spring one is back. (The summer one was dropped several years ago).

Looks s though Southampton is still getting 2 visits.

I don't really do opera, though I do sometimes go to Southampton for the WNO, usually Mozart, or something I can hum along to !!

Anyway, I wouldn't know Lulu if it fell on my head. So, opera buffs, tell me, should I go along to this. Tickets are ridiculously good value, and I am tempted...go on, persuade me !!
                    Cheers.
Incidentally, as a student, a spent a nice couple of days revising in the library, while some of the WNO singers practised nearby...very classy. !!
I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.

I am not a number, I am a free man.

My advice would be to check out some of the music on Spotify/public library of your choice, teams. Berg produced a suite of the music, fortunately.

Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.

It's wonderful music, accessible and the story although gruesome is also very funny in places - just the sort of piece that an intelligent team of conductor, director and singers should have great fun putting together for our enjoyment.

Cheers Ams. Great advice. A simple yes or no usually suffices for a simple soul like me , though !!
Plenty of tickets left, unfortunately, don't think its going to be sold out.
                          I'll try the suite.

Thanks for the link to the brochure, M3 - it looks as if the spring 2014 visit is limited to the two performances, Friday and Saturday, which, while less good than Tuesday-Saturday, is better than nothing

Well at least they will be here twice with 6 x Productions in a few months, so I suppose we should be grateful, given the amount of funding thats being cut all over the place, what do you think of the "rebranding" New Look Site/Brochure etc etc, looks great I think, very simple and effective, I've been scouring the web to see if there's any further news on The Autumn season in Bristol generally, Britten's "War Requiem" will be good, and I see that The Sofia Ballet are due in The Summer with Giselle
