Actually, Molto Verdi would be a more accurate title, as Jérusalem and Aroldo (significant rewrites of I Lombardi and Stiffelio respectively) aren't included. I reviewed the first eight titles, released independently, in January's issue of IRR.
Not one for the 'Bargains' thread, I think!

An excellent start to the Verdi season last night - http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01pmf8c - with good presentation from Roger Parker and some nice contributions from musicologists. Mark Elder was on the programme too. I always find him a worthwhile contributor. My main conclusion - l learnt a lot about Verdi and about the relationship between the music, Italy and its people.

If Radio 3 take all the Met broadcasts live, then we get, Rheingold on 6th April, Walkure on 13 April, Siegfried on 20 April and Gotterdammerung on 11 May. Plus the Proms.

Yes, those are the dates in the press release which Lateralthinking1 linked to. Looks like two Rings then, and presumably not all that far apart.

Not forgetting Opera North's continuing production: Siegfried this year!

If only Wagner had born a year earlier, the Beeb would have had a perfect double excuse to mark 2012 by giving us five Rings...

                    On 30th December, perhaps?

Wagner? Surely the main news is that Ferneyhough is on R3 this week.

They did, Skempton's Five Rings Triples (almost, but not quite, twice).

I've enjoyed what I've heard so far. I'd never heard I Lombardi and I Vespri Siciliani before. I like the on-line information pages and gallery on each opera, they're very well done.

The Wagner survey is good news - bring it on! It must be a while since we had a Tannhauser; wonder if they'll relay WNO's Lohengrin?
