All Verdi Operas to be broadcast in 2013

Does anyone have the dates for these broadcasts? I'd like to make the effort to listen because I only know a handful of his operas.

The trails tell us that all the " surviving" operas will be performed, can anyone tell me if in fact if there any " lost operas" as is the case with Monteverdi etc

I thought this wording was rather curious. I am not aware of any lost Verdi operas. Maybe someone can educate us?

If any are 'lost', it's news to me.

I'm wondering just how worthwhile an exercise this is? Verdi, perhaps by his own admission, turned out a lot of not very distinguished/distinctive stuff during his 'galley years' and things like Alzira and Un Giorno de Regno are probably not what he'd have chosen to be remembered by. If Wagner had had a long stretch composing stuff along the lines of Die Feen and Das Liebesverbot, would we feel any great compulsion to listen to it? I think not.....

Rocester apparently, based on an existing libretto by Antonio Piazza. I am tempted to follow this series as it is on paper more appealing to me than the previous marathons. To be blunt, they weren't appealing to me at all. Whether I have the stamina for it, time - and further education - will tell. Incidentally, R3 will be broadcasting every opera by Wagner - and Britten - during 2013.

No list of dates, I'm afraid, but it does look as if Radio 3 is attempting to get them done in a couple of months if this week is anything to go by: I Lombardi tomorrow - worth hearing for Erwin Schrott as Pagano - then I vespri siciliani on Tuesday, followed by Simon Boccanegra on Thursday, the La Scala performance from a couple of seasons ago with Domingo in the title role (hmm) and Feruccio Furlanetto as Fiesco, both familiar from their ROH appearances in those roles a few months later, but with Anja Harteros as Amelia, who is terrific.

No lost operas as a whole, but his first opera was supposed to be entitled Rochester, but turned into Oberto. I don't know if any sketches for the original opera weren't used in Oberto, yet survived in some form? There was also his long held desire to compose an opera on King Lear which some sources suggest he did actually start upon but abandoned for want of a good enough cast becoming available to him. There's a very good chapter about it in Vincent Godefroy's The Dramatic Genius of Verdi, Vol.II.

Incidentally, I've just taken delivery of a doorstop of a set, called Tutto Verdi:

It contains all 26 of his operas, plus the Requiem, on DVD/ Blu-ray. Actually, Molto Verdi would be a more accurate title, as Jérusalem and Aroldo (significant rewrites of I Lombardi and Stiffelio respectively) aren't included. I reviewed the first eight titles, released independently, in January's issue of IRR.

Lear... Desperate to do it. Gave up the unequal struggle. Are there any sketches extant?

I'm sure R3 has previously broadcast all the Verdi operas over the space of about a year. It might be 20-30+ years ago. Many that I believe never get staged now.

Is there also the possibility that the BBC will broadcast all the Wagner and Britten opera this year too?

I think it's more than likely, EA. I'm sure I read somewhere that all Wagner's operas are set for broadcast and I'd imagine that they'll try and broadcast Britten's from performances set for 2013 - Gloriana, Billy Budd, Death in Venice and Peter Grimes are already pencilled into my diary.
