A recording of Scottish Opera's production. I saw it & enjoyed it very much - the singers were excellent, & the production was extremely good. Well worth reviving (which SO rarely do, except for MacVicar's Rosenkavalier)

No comments on this production? The very first performance I heard of it was by Scottish Opera - fan I wiz en Ebrrrdeen. I've just put on a Bach disc, so too late to listen to it tonight.

Surprising nobody seems to have listened to it. It's not as if it's frequently broadcast. The last scene - in Bedlam - was so affecting in the theatre, & equally so on the radio.

Lack of time I'm afraid. I share your opinion: with the church yard scene the finale scene belongs to the most affecting scenes in the whole of the world of opera.

I'm planning on listening today (via iPlayer HDS), if other commitments permit. The same applies to Saturday's Pre-Hear and Hear and Now. At least I have a rest day today.
