I shall be scanning the orchestra pit at the ROH on 24 October from my seat in the amphitheatre!

I was wondering whether to take my 10x40 Zeiss binoculars, but people would think they were for ogling the naked Rhinemaidens at the very end. (For those who are not familiar with this production, the Rhinemaidens are naked at the start of Rheingold but hastily put on dungarees when Alberich appears. They divest themselves of said dungarees at the end of G'dammerung).

I am singing in the coming ROH production, and did it last time too. They definitely had Street Horns and they were in the wings, so you won't (in theory!) see them in the pit. I don't know their vintage.

Best Wishes for the production: I've often wondered what Wagner is like from the performers' perspective (not just the solo roles, or the conductor's, but the chorus and orchestral Musicians).

Thank you! This is a very energetic and enjoyable production from our point of view! We often wonder what it's like from the auditorium. It's certainly very exciting to be part of a complete Ring Cycle.

And all good wishes from me too! I'm greatly looking forward to it, and enjoyed it last time round (in October 2007). The production is far better than the egregious Richard Jones one that I saw twice in the 1990s. One moment I recall from 2007 was in the last act of Walkure - John Treleaven could clearly be heard (from the amphitheatre) calling to the stage hands, "The sword's broken, the sword's broken"....
