Stockhausen to throw some (Wednesday) light on Birmingham in August.

We reflect the city we work in – with our audiences, artists and the stories we tell. Our ground-breaking work constantly attracts new and ever-changing audiences. Unlike other opera houses, we make our outreach work central to the artistic product. Our participants from all over Birmingham – singing their story - make opera accessible to new audiences and introduce new ideas.

The first complete performance of Karlheinz Stockhausen's opera Mittwoch aus Licht, which features a section played from four helicopters, is to premiere this summer in Birmingham.

I attended the Helikopter Quartett's premiere in Amsterdam in 1996 iirc - and they make a hell of a noise .
But I'd love to attend Mittwoch aus Licht

        Great news

I'll be there. With my ground to air missiles.

I would imagine that travels everywhere with him, unless by some medical anomaly it's detachable.

So are we having 4 complete performances? Or is the opera spread over 4 days? Performances 22/8/12 - 25/8/12
