New York Metropolitan Opera - classic performances.

I am interested in the New York Metropolitan Opera. I was wondering if there are any compilation sets of classic performances from the great singers of the past available on DVD.

I'm not sure if these are classic or new productions:

Some interesting performances though. I will certainly want to see Boris and Nixon, though I might give the Italian stuff a miss.

I am the only person who gets more selective about opera-going and listening as I get older? There are many operas I really don't want to see again - including most of the pre-twentieth century Italians - and Mozart (apart from The Magic Flute.)

Would that be a rhetorical question then?
