Four-star review in The Guardian today 13.12.22. (Freddie De Tommaso, Natalya Romaniw and Erwin Schrott).
Are we going to be offered this on R3?
I was there last night and can confirm that the reviewer was absolutely right. This was probably the best sung and most consistently cast performance of Tosca I’ve seen at the Opera House since the Kent production was premiered 16 years ago. All three principals were fantastic. Highly recommended and I do hope will get a broadcast.
Tosca is due to be shown in cinemas next March but it’s not clear yet if it will be this cast.

The whole theory of modern education is radically unsound. Fortunately in England, at any rate, education produces no effect whatsoever. If it did, it would prove a serious danger to the upper classes, and probably lead to acts of violence in Grosvenor Square."

Thanks, LHC. Have you any information about the cast for this run - may give s aclue about the recording...?
There were two casts for this run of Tosca. The earlier performances featured Malin Bystrom, Gwyn Hughes Jones and Gabrielle Viviani. The last four performances feature Natalya Romaniw, Freddie de Tommaso and Erwin Schrott (there are three performances left).
The Opera House web page detailing cinema showings doesn’t include information on the cast (it says ‘cast information coming soon’).
The Tosca programme doesn’t give any clues about which performances might have been filmed, but I think there’s a good chance it will be one of the Natalya, Freddie and Erwin performances. Let’s hope so.
