I caught a chunk of the end - The Duchess' dress was impressive (more in the How to rock an 11 foot frock! short).

Great fun. I was astonished at how much of the music and words I had remembered since last engaging with this froth in a prep school production aged eleven.

Yes, I was a G&S kid too....both male and female roles.

I enjoyed the TV version very much....really well produced and choreographed. The camera-work was unbelievably good I thought.
I must say though that W.S. Gilbert's witty and satirical libretto suffered a lot from the uber-operatic diction. The plot was obvious enough even for non-G&S fans, but the political satire (targeting republicanism, monarchy and the the Limited Liability Act of the late 19th century) was probably lost....not to mention Rees-Mogg, Thatcher and the Johnson family.

I gather that it's possible to put subtitles on BBC i-Player. I'd recommend them if you know how to do it.

I'm generally not a great fan of dance, but this has the most impressive dance scene I've watched for years.
