If you enjoy Stemme's wobble, yes, you'll love it.

Actually the last time I saw a live opera performance was in the summer opera festival in Aix in 2017 (The Rake's Progress), which was superb in every way, so I have nothing but good memories of the place. I don't think wobbling does Wagner any favours though.

I saw the last performance of Valkyrie at ENO in December; really liked Rachel Nicholls, who was new to me. Just sayin'.

For those who are interested in watching as well as listening, the full performance was shown on the ARTE website in the summer, and appears still to be available on their French site.

"I do not approve of anything that tampers with natural ignorance. Ignorance is like a delicate exotic fruit; touch it and the bloom is gone. The whole theory of modern education is radically unsound. Fortunately in England, at any rate, education produces no effect whatsoever. If it did, it would prove a serious danger to the upper classes, and probably lead to acts of violence in Grosvenor Square."
