La Fille du Regiment is on the free streaming today. It’s very good - we’ll probably watch it (again) later on.

I tried singing along, but it was hard to get to the top. I think I could just about do it, but no way would I be able to do it musically - or on a stage!
I guess that top C is the highest people normally aim at, but just how far can one (some people - either singers or otherwise) go?
I enjoyed seeing/hearing it all again, though it really is very silly - and I'm not sure it stands too much repeated exposure. I still think the production was good, though.

Although she had a very good career as a serious singer, I think singers whose range extends that far can often be viewed as something of a freak show.
As for the Met production, it is very good, and clearly popular, as it is the same one as at Covent Garden, Vienna (and some other houses I think)."I do not approve of anything that tampers with natural ignorance.
