    Back in the 80s, I was working at LWT and distinctly remember organising film crews to go and shoot excerpts of Akhnaten at the ENO for The South Bank Show. It must exist somewhere in the archives - it would be fascinating to see.

      I remember watching the broadcast clips and bemoaning the failure to broadcast the whole production. Still, at least I got to attend that production.

        Yes ... the pattern is repeating, with only a few "trailers" available of the more recent ENO/LA Opera production in addition to the one-off Met streaming. It does look as if Orange Mountain are holding out on allowing a complete blu-ray / dvd release, which (as nearly every production there's been has been well received critically) starts to look suspiciously like orders from above. After all, both Satyagraha and Einstein have been released, with great success; and Akhnaten would probably sell better than either.
