Doing that, and the live relay tonight worked perfectly. I caught Round 2 on the usual catch-up link after the broadcast last night from the Cardiff Singer homepage. It's only for the live relay that you have to do the Location change. After tonight I think it's going to be irrelevant as it looks as if Round 4 is on BBC 4 tomorrow after the football. Do people have thoughts on the competition so far?
BBC2 Wales is available quite widely on most platforms (channel 956, IIRC on Sky), including Freeview. I certainly haven't paid any extra for it, and there it is in all its HD glory.

Have you checked to see whether you don't have it lurking away somewhere?

BBC2 Wales HD is available on Freeview in Wales, but not as far as I am aware elsewhere. The Freeview channel number for BBC2 Wales HD is 102, which is unsurprisingly the same channel number as BBC2 HD Thankfully, BBC4 has now rearranged its schedules, and is showing the Cardiff Singer Heats after the women's footie, and in place of its normal repeats.
"I do not approve of anything that tampers with natural ignorance. Ignorance is like a delicate exotic fruit; touch it and the bloom is gone. The whole theory of modern education is radically unsound. Fortunately in England, at any rate, education produces no effect whatsoever. If it did, it would prove a serious danger to the upper classes, and probably lead to acts of violence in Grosvenor Square."

Huge admiration for Josie d'Arby who conducts those brief few-minute interviews between each performer. It must be nerve wracking and takes real skill to pull off with such high intelligence.

BBC Two wales certainly isn’t on freeview as I have in Northamptonshire but as LHC says we’re now getting it on BBC Four which is great.

I loved Katie Bray's performance on Tuesday night, especially her Barbara Song.

BBC 2 Wales is on Freeview in Wales only, occupying the same channel (102) as is allocated to BBC 2 in England. Freesat has a whole range of regional BBC channels, including BBC Scotland, which I have on occasions found very useful (and, here on the coast, it's also more reliable than Freeview).

Yes, she does well as does PT with his presentation. They certainly pack the programme with older singers of the top rank. I think Jose Cura is still singing in performance, at least he was when I attended one of his concerts last year at Semperoper Dresden.

Is anyone else listening to the programme tonight? We had maybe a minute of singing then the broadcast was interrupted due to 'a severe medical emergency'. Radio3 are now playing Bruckner 7 - a work not noted for its brevity!

Yes, I noticed this. I put it down to the BBC’s usual incompetence in keeping it’s notifications up to date, but this is exceptional even by their standards. It’s still displaying the same work on the screen, though the vocal sounds suggest otherwise.

Anyway, it’s time for Catch 22.

What did you think of Episode 1? (Please feel free to reply on the 'TV Programmes' thread).

Erm............sudden medical emergency totally beyond the BBC's control and they / organisers interrupted the LIVE broadcast while medical team got in to sort it.

FGS............it was made abundantly clear on air, and the comp continued later in totality.

On a more positive note it was well worth waiting for the performances . There was some lovely indeed remarkable singing last night . I was amazed at the ability of so many singers to take on two or three languages not their own . And as for Llyr Williams the accompanist - what an incredible musician. Have to say that the Leider performances capped what I’ve seen of the opera excerpts .....

I loved Sooyeon Lee's group of Lieder. So beautifully controlled. After her Lucia mad scene, looking forward to her performances in the Final.
