I'm not sure what time of day this performance was recorded but this afternoon's broadcast looks very tempting. There are no commercial recordings of this opera, so a HIPP performance on Ao3 looks even more enticing.

What a strange story-line this opera has, and a 'punch-line' delivered with velvet gloves on. Was it somewhat ahead of its time, or justly derided and then rejected? With no stage action to view, I found it rather attractive, musically. Worth a listen via 'Sounds' on demand, I would suggest. Bear in mind that this is quite possibly the only change you will get to hear the work.
See https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=...gP54N-SrgmJGU1 for further info. Given the story-line, I was wondering whether "The Silver Bell" might not be too literal a translation. Surely the French also alluded to "The Money Bell"?
