    Carol Neblett is Dead.

Famed for her interpreation of Minnie in La Fanciulla Del West, among other roles:

Indeed. Will forever be remembered by me as the soprano in Abbado's Chicago SO Mahler 2nd, as well as Minnie, op cit, and in Korngold's, "Die Tote Stadt". RIP

Coincidentally, about a fortnight ago I revisited that Leinsdorf recording of Die Tote Stadt. Glorious singing (albeit perhaps with slightly occluded diction) from Neblett, and an absolutely extraordinary, tireless performance by Rene Kollo (with every word crystal clear).

Very sad to hear the news of Carol Neblett's death. Astonished, too, to realise that it is forty years since I saw her as Minnie,
La Fanciulla del West, at Covent Garden. A high definition performer who effortlessly sustained the power required
for Act 2, in particular, an indelible memory. RIP,
