Sky Arts is showing a recording of the ENO Terry Gilliam production of Berlioz's Benvenuto Cellini at nine this evening. A few typical Gilliam touches including a camp Pope from Willard White but on the whole a production that would not frighten the horses.

This was a marvellous production, and very entertaining. I saw it twice in the theatre. However I remember thinking at the time that it was more Gilliam than Berlioz.
