Thanks to Andrew's online listings, I discovered that Wagner's rarely-performed second opera is being broadcast tomorrow evening:

I haven't heard this in over thirty years - during the Wagner centenary celebrations, in fact! - be good to hear it again.

Am interested to know whether you did indeed then find it good to have heard it again! I`ve struggled to get all the way through this opera, despite being obsessively devoted to mature Wagner, and prefer Rienzi and Die Feen to this one I admit. I had hoped that in the bicentenary year of 2013 a professional dvd of Liebesverbot and Feen would appear, but sadly not. At least there`s a dvd of Liebesverbot on the "grey" market but of Die Feen only a 43-minute version from the Vienna State Opera Children`s wing... I do suspect that plugging this gap in the market might boost the profile of Wagner`s nr 1 and 2....

I did listen to it. I wouldn't have said it was Wagner if I hadn't known. It's supposed to be a comedy, isn't it? One wouldn't have thought so from the (lack of) laughs from the audience.
