    Met / Elektra / Stemme / Salonen

Crikey, EPS is driving that orchestra - they will really know they've been in a game by the end!
Where does Stemme get her amazing stamina!

Unfortunately missed most of it - and the cinema broadcast. I hope it (the radio broadcast, that is) will be available on iPlayer.

Went to the screening at our local cinema.
Didn't particularly like the production (Chereau), or transmission direction, but what singing/playing/conducting!
Certainly not for the faint hearted.

I too saw the HD-cast live at the local cinema, and I was more favorably inclined to Chereau's production. One can quibble with details here and there, but overall, I think that it is a strong piece of staging. Some of the details that Chereau, and perhaps also Vincent Huguet, re-thought (e.g. Klytemnestra, the Fifth Maid) can be looked at from this New York Times article:

I don't know if you guys get the Encore HD's in the UK, but we get them usually the next Wednesday. Eventually, a cleaned-up version of the HD-cast makes its way to TV broadcast and to DVD. For Flosshilde and others who haven't seen it, definitely worth checking out if you can get to the encore screening. If you only hear it on iPlayer, just to explain the odd sounds at the start, one of the servants on stage is sweeping the steps. It's only when 2 or 3 of them rush to stage right/house left, and unlock the padlock that seals the door on that side of the stage, that the music starts. The iPlayer link is here:

Live from the Met, Strauss's Elektra conducted by Esa-Pekka Salonen. With Nina Stemme.

I thought there might be a repeat showing, but can't find details for the cinema that shows the live broadcasts - but then it's difficult to find the details about the live broadcast on their website.

I found the one cinema in your neighborhood that shows the Met HD's (Cineworld Glasgow Renfrew). I see what you mean about not being able to find details about the Elektra HD-cast on that cinema's site.. (The Cineworld chain even shows an image from the William Kentridge production of Lulu at this page.) Guess a phone call to the movie house is in order.
