I'm watching principally because of Jo Pohlheim, who didn't sing in the first ON Rheingold back in 2010 (Nicholas Folwell was Alberich in that one), was so stunning in the Siegfried and Gotterdammerung I saw. He certainly hasn't disappointed me so far. A truly terrifying presence.

No problems here in Yorkshire with excellent HD sound and picture.
Brilliant ON and just as gripping as I remember in Leeds Town Hall. Thanks to all who enabled this to happen.

Memories of a fantastic production - with some bits I'd forgotten (not least Iain Duncan Smith as Froh!!!). Some bits of the staging got lost with the cameraman's obsession with The Close-Up - the tremendous Alberich's transformation into a frog was quite astonishing in the Town Hall, but just as we were about to see this on screen, we got instead a close-up of the magnificent Polheim turning green with a grimace on his face (looked like a bad case of constipation) - and Fafner's murder of his brother by ripping his heart from his chest just became a theft of a handkerchief because of the close-up.
Picky, picky! A great reminder of a great performance.
With a great Alberich.Numquam Satis!

I don't think that's being picky. I was disappointed that more of the live experience (as I understand it to have been) didn't come across: for the most part the projections didn't really add anything at all and what they did add hardly gave the impression of size and scale that I suspect was there in the hall. But I enjoyed almost all of the the performance and was pleased to see it televised. A pity though that the rest of the cycle is only available online.

This production was designed for the various halls it was performed in, not for filming. The triptych of screens above the orchestra, which carried the text and visuals in the hall, was mostly blocked on tv by swirly clouds. I agree some of the huge scale of the hall was lost but it was great to see facial close ups. A pity the phalanx of harps bathed in gold for the rainbow bridge wasn't shown. Occasional views of individual instruments added to the drama, the tubas looked as though a huge dragon was emerging.

When I set my recorder (Freesat/Humax) it identified the programme as 1 of 4.
Admittedly, on pressing the record set button, I then didn't get the option 'Record whole series', which would normally be the case, but I hoped that that was because the transmission dates had not yet been set or were too far in the future.
