La Fenice: Rossini's Il Signor Bruschino in September. Advice please.

There is a good chance that we will be overnighting in Venice on September 30th and I see La Fenice is putting on a performance of Rossini's "Il Signor Bruschino"

A couple of questions for those familiar with La Fenice and/or the Rossini opera.

    A) Where is the best seating situated?
    and
    B) I am not familiar with this Rossini opera - it is listed as 90 minutes long. Interesting? Worth the effort?

Any advice will be much appreciated.

The best seat is in the Royal/Ducal/Doge's Box - it's the only place I've sat when I've visited La Fenice.

Can't help you with the opera, but even if it was the worst rubbish you ever heard it'd be worth it if you were sitting there

When I went regularly, my seat was in the stalls, or poltrone - they really were like armchairs, very comfortable, and the sound was good This of course was before the fire and rebuilding.

I occasionally had a box seat, but I wouldn't recommend those, unless you're right at the front.

      I'd see any Rossini anywhere.

And if perchance you see some empty seats in a better location to yours then custom and practice seems to be to simply occupy them after the interval.

Has all the union argy-bargy ended? Last time we were there, which was a long time ago I admit, there was a speech from the stage to resounding jeers from the audience of "Basta! Basta! "

The one & only time I've been to La Fenice the orchestra was on strike & had occupied the theatre, and was giving free concerts.

I wouldn't like anyone to get the idea that industrial unrest is a regular feature - for two succesive years I had an abbonamento and saw every production of the season, and there was never any disruption.
