Just into ‘Casta diva’ on Monday, I had a mental blip and thought, ‘I’ve seen someone just like her sing this on this stage before. Ah, Rita Hunter, of course.’
Marjorie Owens seemed to embody (?) Rita. But I couldn’t have seen Rita in that role there. This was the first time the ENO has done Norma.
Maybe I saw Rita do it in Sydney – I’d have to trawl through my diaries of the time to find that out.
Anyway, I thought Marjorie was top notch!
