More trouble at ENO

Remember this, a year and a day ago? http://www.spectator.co.uk/2015/02/w...-eno-go-under/"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

it would be interesting to know where else cuts have been proposed( or volunteered)in what is sadly sometimes known as the salary mass.
I don't suppose the chorus get over paid.I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.

I know plenty of people who survive on less, Rauschy.
Booksellers at those London bookshops that we all love, who often have many years of experience and great knowledge, would mostly give their eye teeth for a gross salary of £24 k , let alone £32k.( and I know this for a fact).
just one example, of course, I could give more.
Salaries at the top of far too many organisations are way out of line with the pittances earned by the rank and file.I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.

There was a very sympathetic report earlier on Sky News, so presumably it will also be covered by the other channels too. They made much of the reasonably low seat prices, using the West End show called something about Mormon (The Book of Mormon, perhaps) as a comparison. Having been reminded of how good ENO can be on Saturday (The Mikado), I would hate to see their standards being reduced.

All very sad but I'm not convinced that there is space in London any more for two opera companies.
That said, I think ENO will survive in some form, as otherwise London will 'look' culturally inferior to other European cities like Berlin.
Munich has a 'Komische Oper', which I don't think does any better business than ENO.
