Although it's only an hour's drive away from me, the B.O.F. is not a fixture in my calendar.
On the one occasion I did go, I saw an excellent performance of Donizetti's Lucrezia Borgia with Mary Plazas in the title role.
The current crop of (very adventurous) operas - Giovanna D'Arco, Lucia de Lammermoor and Charpentier's Louise- have been generally slated, or damned with faint praise, by the critics.
A case of over-ambitious, perhaps?
Has anyone seen any of the Festival's recent output and so can comment with authority?
