For those going to Glyndebourne tomorrow (21st), who may not have seen this:

Due to planned strike action on Tuesday 21 June, there may be some disruption to your journey tomorrow if you are planning to come by train. Please allow additional time for your journey.

There will be no services running between Haywards Heath and Lewes. Audience members will need to travel from London Victoria to Brighton. From Brighton, please then take the next available service to Lewes.

Please check southernrailway.com for the latest service update.

We will operate a shuttle service from Lewes station throughout the afternoon. There will also be a Glyndebourne staff member at Lewes station to answer any queries.

During the performance we will monitor the situation and if necessary we will transport audience members to Haywards Heath or Gatwick by coach for connecting trains to London Victoria.

Anyone have views on Beatrice et Benedict?

Went to see it yesterday and was definitely underwhelmed. Laurent Pelly would appear to have struggled to get beyond the metaphor of "living outside of the box" with the set deign which was rather dull - and pretty silly. After the (lengthy) overture and curtain up there was very little else to keep one's attention glued to the stage. There appeared to be a strange hiatus in the middle of Act 2 where Beatrice (Stephanie D'Oustrac) walked off stage left for what amounted to about 20 seconds during which there was absolute silence and a completely empty stage before running back on to greet Benedict who had come on from stage right buttoning up his jacket. It was all very odd and we wondered if Benedict had missed his cue.
Definitely not one of GFO's hits.
