I went to last night's performance at the Mayflower, Southampton. "Technical and safety issues" meant we only got Gianni Schicchi, and not Suor Angelica. The staff weren't forthcoming, but the rumour in the bar was that there were problems with the ceiling of the set for Gianni Schicchi. Major delays on the railway ("staff shortage, signalling problems") meant a shared taxi home, at some expense.
On the plus side, I very much liked the production, and Haegee Lee deserved her applause for O mio babbino caro.
