    Margaret Juntwait

Margaret Juntwait, commentator of the Met broadcasts, has just died of ovarian cancer at the age of 58. RIP.

I’m not a regular listener of the Met broadcast but when I did hear it, Margaret Juntwait came across as an excellent broadcaster (whether I liked the programme's presentation style on the whole is another matter). Only 58…. Very sad.

I'll add my tribute, she was a special voice and very welcome. I only knew her from those broadcasts, but I felt I knew a generous and knowledgeable person.

Me too. She really came over well on those Transatlantic broadcasts. She'll be a great loss.

I confess she wasn`t to my taste (although preferable to Ira Siff) but a loss of a knowledgeable enthusiast, at at a young age, is to be mourned.

I usually enjoyed her segments at the interval at least as much as the Opera

I am another person that listened to this programme of The Met on R3 at irregular intervals, but whenever, but when Margaret came on, there was always a voice of someone who knew their subject well, and kept us informed at a standard that be hard to beat.
