    Claudia Muzio

Anyone hear the beautiful recording of Ombra di nube sung by Claudia Muzio included in the eight chosen by Jonas Kaufmann on DID today ?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LVcIBzMgTaQ?
I'd heard of her but never heard her singing, my loss and how. Turns out it was the single disc that Eva Turner chose over all others when she appeared on DID.
For his part Kaufmann chose the incomparable Wunderlich singing Granada:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=od-edVG8HZM Great singing but the kitsch orchestration brings Morecambe and Wise and maracas unavoidably to mind.

Muzio was wonderful . I discovered her through a Nimbus Prima Voce Cd - some lovely music and performances chosen and JK came across very well I thought .

Worth seeking to hear the quality of this radiant soprano is a 2CD set on the Romophone label, (1995), transfers and audio restoration by Ward Marston, the complete Columbia recordings, (1934-35); a voice described by Lauri-Volpi as 'made of tears and sighs and restrained inner fire'. Verdi, Puccini, Bellini, Boito, Cilea, Giordano, Mascagni, and Refice - Ombra di Nube, in particular, is also included on a single EMI References CD, Operas, Arias & Songs, released 1988/CDH 7 697902. The Romophone 2 CD set/ 81015-2.
