Opera on 3 from the ROH

Good to see some live relays from Covent Garden in the future schedule...

Interesting... am I correct in thinking that I due Foscari hasn't been broadcast yet? It's been delayed once, then I wondered if the Domingo celebration (from three years ago!) replaced it in the schedules. Now, no news of a broadcast. Could it be - perish the thought - that his Domingo-ness has vetoed the broadcast...

ROH production of Idomeneo to be broadcast tonight (Monday 26/1/15) at 6.30 pm:

From the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, Marc Minkowski conducts Mozart's Idomeneo.

      Recorded in November last year.

Netrebko in June? Serial defaulter on past record. Will she, won't she?

Both Idomeneo and Don Giovanni are much better heard than seen.

Personally, I would have preferred not to have seen or heard Franco Fagioli as Idamante

The Flying Dutchman isn't listed for broadcast, but I noticed that two performances are being filmed. Possibly for release on DVD?

It's being shown live in cinemas on 24 February. Although some of these cinema showings are released on DVD at a later date, not all are. A Flying Dutchman from Zurich with Terfel as the Dutchman has just been released on DVD, so I suspect the Opera House performances are unlikely also to make their way onto DVD.

Yes; there were some excruciating noises from many of the singers (including the chorus) last night. The rubber shark couldn't have done a worse job.

Just booked for Andrea Chenier this Thurs at a local cinema. I've not seen Kaufmann live before and am looking forward to it.

The 24th Feb performance is marked 'Filming', which could I suppose mean that it's being transmitted live, but so is the 12th Feb. Perhaps that's in case something goes wrong on the 24th Feb & they can slot in a previously filmed performance?
