In the planning stage it was assumed there would indeed be two intervals, hence the 19.00 curtain-up. During production reh. the powers that be decided to run Acts 1 & 2 without a break. I means we - the full and extra chorus - get an early release!

What time does it end Simon I am considering getting a late train back north to avoid the Tour de France hordes on Saturday morning

Careful, Barbs - the Tour de France Yorkshire spills over onto the Sunday; the hordes may still be around (or moving to the next viewing point) on Saturday evening.

We are not involved in the curtain call, so I would have to guess c. 21.50. Sorry I can't more helpful. I hope you enjoy it!

It is the interval and although The only way is Essex production is startling I think it is quite brilliant and Opolais and Kaufmann are superb

On the train home I thought it was a really interesting production though the Act 4 high up on a half finished motorway viaduct was somewhat bemusing .

Opolais was magnificent I thought a terrific singing actor/ actress .

Kaufman in excellent voice and acting as well as ever . maltman superbly sleazy as Lescaut .

No weak links at all land the ROH orchestra in top form and Pappano surely one of the all time great Puccini conductors the intermezzo will never seem the same again

wrong thread probably, but it looks like I may be at a cinema screening of the Met performance on Saturday.
Don't know this opera at all, so am I in for a treat ?

I'd say you are. It's not one of G.P.'s best but the Covent Garden production in 2014 was, I thought, superb.
