    Excellent as you'd expect from the sublime Quatuor Mosaïques. Radio 3 would benefit immensely from more period-instrument recitals like this.

    100% correct. Three pieces that form part of the core of quartet repertoire could be a yawnfest in routine hands but this quartet, that has been marinading in the best of period-instrument culture for a quarter of a century, imagined each piece afresh. The four players spun such a magical web that I became entranced. Wonderful, and full of insights. A triumph for Radio 3. Another mountain peak sailing high above the slough of dumbed-down despond.

      very true tho due to travel problems (boats + Irish sea) I only caught the 2nd half - however what was the first thing we heard after the initial burst of applause were two tweets read out by SMP presumeably sent by twits (twitters?) who put thumb to phone whilst 'listening' and each had zero to add to the experience tho SMP dropped down yet another nitch in any regards I had
