You don't need flash with today's quality cameras.
The person taking the snaps is using a smart phone, presumably the flash is set to be on by default - mine's set to be off. I guess we should be grateful that they're not videoing the entire concert.
Wonderful to hear the Vienna Woods played so winningly. It's been far too long since its last outing. Personally, I can see no reason why it should not be heard on an annual basis. It is at least as inventive as the ubiquitous Schonen Blauen Donau and just as synonymous with the city.
I do like seeing the Vienna Philharmonic playing. not so sure about the cutaways to the dancers though.
Turned on to hear the Strauß waltz that Strauss moulded into the Rosenkav waltz... turned off when some gurning ballerina and his toutou-clad female companion gurned their way up some stairs
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."
That Musikverein is something else isn't it,I've only ever seen it from the outside (in the flesh).
Does it have any cheap seats ?.
No cheap seats only poor ones I reckon. The worst seats look like those at the front row. Far too close and low to see anything especially with the dense flower display at the front of the stage.
Not many ladies in there are there? At least there's one in the front desk of V1 and another a few desks back. I guess they must be good to break that Viennese chauvinism?

We were told that there were 9. It's getting better, albeit slowly.
