    Favourite spring music

I normally dig out Frank Bridge for a few drives to work
    as we Enter Spring.

    How about you ?

              Britten's Spring Symphony, of course!

Does anyone still play Sinding's Rustle of Spring, I wonder? It was attempted by every piano-playing child in my youth.

And that Cuckoo, which should be played once a year at the beginning of Spring, then rested for 11 months.

Beethoven 'Spring' Sonata. 'La Primavera' (from Respighi's Three Botticelli Pictures).
But not Bruce Springsteen or Buffalo Springfield.

To my knowledge, it doesn't have anything to do with spring, but the opening of Grieg's Holberg Suite always cheers me up in the same way as the arrival of the season.

It's funny how some whole areas of the repertoire
suddenly become more appealing at this time of year.

I hardly ever feel like listening to Schumann's solo piano works
                      in winter.

I'm definitely with Alison on this one: nothing other than Bridge's euphoric tone poem better captures the mood of that first day when one opens the door to let the fresh air in and takes in the sounds and scents of that first really warm day of spring in music.

I feel rather guilty as Bridge's Enter Spring was in my Hire Library at Augener.No-one hired it in all the years I worked there and I've never heard it, to my knowledge. Perhaps it will be broadcast soon.

Funnily enough on the lovely bright sunny morning today I reached straight for the recent Uchida Schumann disc .

Schumann's Spring Symphony ( especially conducted by Kubelik) is a sap riser too .
