"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Lincolnshire International Chamber Music Festival: 23 - 26t August
This week's Lunchtime Concerts come from the Lincolnshire International Chamber Music Festival, curated by pianist Ashley Wass. The music was recorded at venues across the county, including Lincoln Assembly Rooms, Gainsborough Old Hall and Caistor Methodist Church. Today's programme features piano music by Liszt, Gershwin's original version of "An American in Paris" for 2 pianos, a chamber version of the overture to Rossini's last opera "William Tell" and a piano Trio by the Armenian composer Arno Babajanian.
Rossini's William Tell Overture played in a piano trio arrangement. The expression ‘domestic music making’ comes to mind. Great fun.
And a bonus: Presented by Christopher Cook.
P.S. Babajanian's Piano Trio in F sharp minor should qualify as Off the Beaten Track.Last edited by doversoul1; 23-08-16, 12:47.

Leicester International Music Festival 2016 : 20 – 23 September
Tom Redmond introduces highlights from this year's Leicester International Music Festival, including chamber music by Elgar, Oliver Knussen, Holst and Finzi.
Lots of interesting looking British music from Tuesday to Friday. There were a couple of charming (maybe a wrong word) pieces by Elgar on today’s concert.

Oxford Lieder Festival is on - this year Schumann-oriented. I went to an lunchtime concert on Monday with soprano, Mhairi Lawson, baritone, Stephan Loges accompanied by Eugene Asti. Holywell Music Room is a great Lieder venue. The enjoyably varied programme on a theme of childhood contained solo songs, duets and a couple of solo piano pieces.
